Student Advocacy

The Vice President (Missouri) and Associate Vice President (Arizona) for Student Affairs are here to help students who experience a life event that affects their ability to be academically successful. Events like the death of a loved one, illness, accident, sexual assault (Title IX), harassment, discrimination, or relationship violence can have a serious impact on students and their ability to keep up the rigors of their academic program. Even during difficult times, students should be empowered with the resources to make informed decisions and take a proactive role in the resolution process.

  • How Can We Help You? +

    • Student Affairs works directly with students to make appropriate referrals and contacts to help address personal concerns. Students are connected to free counseling resources provided by the university, receive guidance on how to submit a Title IX complaint or harassment/discrimination complaint, and are advised on their options for extended absence, leave of absence, and medical/personal withdraw.

Student Affairs works closely with the student and the student's academic program (when appropriate) to help make the best and informed decision. Students should consider how decisions made to resolve educational barriers and difficulties may affect their ability to maintain satisfactory academic progress. Students should consult their program's academic catalog and seek guidance from their academic advisor or dean's office to discuss a plan for academic progress.

  • Filing a Complaint +

    • Members of the University community may file written complaints and reports of information that allege violations of the Code of Student Behavioral Conduct with the Office of Student Affairs.

Complaints may be submitted online. The complaint needs to include, in writing, the name(s) of all witnesses or others who may have information concerning the alleged offense(s).

When a complaint or report of information is filed more than sixty (60) days after the alleged incident, the Vice President for Student Affairs will determine whether circumstances support a late filing of charges.

  • What Happens to a Complaint +

    • The Vice President of Student Affairs or his/her designee(s) review the complaint and determine whether the complaint, if substantiated, would constitute a violation of the Code of Behavioral Conduct.

Title IX complaints will be forwarded to the Title IX Coordinator.

Academic complaints will be forwarded to the appropriate school/college.
