Hamid Nurrohman, DDS, PhD, is an associate professor of restorative dentistry at A.T. Still University’s Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH). He also serves as an assistant adjunct professor at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry. His teaching experiences address the principles of integrating critical thinking and evidence-based dentistry content into an established dental curriculum: a model for independent learning. He teaches biomaterials, cariology (Caries Management by Risk Assessment/CAMBRA), operative dentistry, and prosthodontics.

Dr. Nurrohman’s postdoctoral research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. With his research background in cariology and operative dentistry, he is interested specifically in nano-controlled molecular interaction at adhesive interfaces for hard tissue reconstruction. His research interests have branched into guided tissue remineralization, as well as repair of caries-infected dentin and inherited dentin defects using the so-called “Polymer-Induced Liquid Precursor” approach. This technology provides the required ions and acidic polymers in dental fillings that can be used to fill cavities while repairing mineralization of the surrounding tooth. Additional advantages compared to traditional resin-modified dental fillings are longer lifetime of the fillings as well as robust light- or auto-cured dentin repair. Along with UCSF team, he directly documented an international patent titled “Compositions for the Remineralization of Dentin.”
