As I approach the completion of the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program at A.T. Still University (ATSU), I am already seeing the results of the training I have received. The instruction that I have received from the faculty and the information provided in each class have challenged me to think on a different level in my practice.

The current organization that I work for is in the middle of changing its electronic health records system and how AI will be implemented to help in the care of our patients. Due to the importance of this change within the organization, the Director of Clinical Informatics position was created. I applied and interviewed for this position because I saw it as a great fit for the training I have been receiving in the DMSc program.

The DMSc program has taught me to look at the bigger picture and then break things down to effect change within an organization. The interview was rigorous and challenged me in how I approached the questions presented. My DMSc training gave me the confidence to be successful in this interview.

At the end of the interview, the interview committee gave me feedback, noting how well thought out my answers were and that they believed this was a direct result of my doctoral training. I am happy to announce that I was selected to be the organization's first Director of Clinical Informatics.

I look forward to this professional challenge and the opportunity to continue to drive change within my organization. I am thankful for the training that I have received, which has grown my confidence and taught me that I am capable of doing difficult things.
